Our base is in the Angel area of Islington, London N1 just above City Road lock on the Regent’s Canal.

Most trips start and finish from the canal towpath just above City Road lock, but arrangements for your trip will be confirmed in advance.

Access to the towpath is by a ramp at the canal bridge on Danbury Street N1 near to its junction with Graham Street. The what3words address of the top of the ramp is  ///crowned.bugs.booth.

Angel Boat Location Map

London underground:

  • The closest underground station to City Road Lock is Angel, on the City branch of the northern line.
  • Head north from the station, turn right into Duncan Street, then nearly straightahead down Vincent Terrace (alongside the canal), and left over the canal bridge into Danbury Street.
  • The ramp giving access to the towpath is on your right.

Bus:

  • Many bus routes stop by Angel underground station on Upper Sreet including 4, 19, 30, 38, 43, 73 and 341.
  • If arriving from the north, follow directions as from Angel underground station (above).
  • If alighting from buses on the west side of Upper Street, cross over to Angel station and follow directions as from Angel underground station.
  • Some buses from King’s Cross and St Pancras stop on City Road for Angel including 205.
  • Walk down City Road, turn left into Colebrooke Row, and second right into Vincent Terrace.
  • Take first left over the canal bridge into Danbury Street.
  • The ramp giving access to the towpath is on your right.

National rail:

  • If you come to Kings Cross or St Pancras stations, you can take the underground or buses to Angel (see above).

Car:

  • We are just outside the Central London Congestion Charge Zone. This applies 7:00-18:00 Monday-Friday and 12:00-18:00 Saturday-Sunday and bank holidays, except that there is no charge between Christmas Day and New Year’s Day bank holiday (inclusive).
  • Parking is on street and restricted Monday to Friday 8.30 am to 6.30 pm and Saturday 8.30 am to 1.30 pm.
  • Access off Upper Street is via Essex Road/St Peters St/Colebrooke Row or Duncan Street, and off City Road via Graham Street.
