Caris Boxing Club hits the waterways

Homeless boxers at Caris Boxing Club in Islington have just returned from a week-long trip along England’s waterways.

The club, which doesn’t charge any of its boxers to train, worked hard to raise the funds needed to take a team of its regular boxers away on a narrow boat trip, giving them a chance to unwind away from the stresses of homelessness in the city.

Camden Council donated seven sets of fishing equipment for the club to use, and coach Sam Hadfield and support worker Tracy Dalton organised fitness sessions and group activities such as cooking.

Sam now hopes that the trip will become a yearly fixture for the club.
